| discrimination @ Blue Martini
One word to describe Blue Martini in Orlando---discrimination. We go there week after week and yet, each and every time we go, that one particular bouncer tends to give us a difficult time. And if we would only be able to get their name or see their name tags on them would make it so much easier for us to describe who and which bouncer it is. If you're asian, you would be lucky that you get carded by Bouncer B, the shorter guy. As uncomfortable as they know how to make you feel, he'll only look at your ID then look at "your crowd". As if your ID represents your whole "crowd". If it's one of those nights where you get Bouncer A., a taller white bald guy., then 97% chance you won't get in. Why? Reasons like-- your shoes aren't black enough, nor shiny or pointy enough. Unfortunately, two of our unlucky male friends ran into that problem friday night. And what disgust us is when you complain to the manager, the manager states he has no power nor authority to advise the staff what to say or do. Doesn't that make you rethink his position? It's sad to see that the asian population is considered the "minority" in Florida. And how terrible it is the way they treat us. We all go out just to have a good time. Understanding their entire strict dress code, we do dearly get dressed up for that place. Remembering that one time we saw they let a guy in with NIKE sneakers white w/ blue stripes frustrates us. And it's reasons unfair like that, states that they are truly disriminating the asian population. What else made that night horrible? We go grab a bite afterwards and some african american guy starts talking smack to us. But what happens? An Orlando sherriff comes over to US., advise us not to order our food and he'll count to two we better leave or he'll cuff us. WTF? The african guy tells us he wanna start shit w/ us and all we did was turn around and say "what did you say". It was so unreasonable as to what the officer said to us. Unneccessary, unreasonable.
Friday was not our night.
And if i had used the nigga term vs. the african american word, we would be the discriminating ones... *sigh*
If there is somewhere someone that cares about the whole discrimination secenario and that would listen to our complaint, that cared about our words.. but unfortunately, this is Florida. |
